Senior Marine Underwriter

This role offers an opportunity to join a specialist reinsurer's Marine and Energy underwriting team in London as a Senior Underwriter. You will assess complex submissions, underwrite treaty reinsurance business across marine classes including Cargo, Hull, Liability, Energy and PVT, and develop strategies to expand the portfolio and cross-sell opportunities. You will also mentor junior underwriters and support the leadership team with portfolio strategy and governance initiatives. The ideal candidate brings seven to ten years of insurance or reinsurance experience, ideally in underwriting, broking, or client-facing roles with a track record of leading placements and managing relationships. You should demonstrate strong commercial acumen paired with technical expertise, proficiency with underwriting systems, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously. A self-starter mentality, energy, and comfort working under pressure are essential.
