This role offers an opportunity to join a specialist insurer as a Senior New Business Underwriter, supporting the expansion of their underwriting portfolio. Based in Birmingham, the position involves underwriting property and casualty risks across a broad range of values, developing new business opportunities within set authority limits, and ensuring profitability while upholding company standards. The successful candidate will mentor junior team members, conduct quality audits, and work closely with brokers and commercial partners to build lasting relationships and identify operational improvements. The ideal candidate brings substantial experience underwriting commercial or specialty property and casualty risks, with strong analytical skills and the ability to negotiate effectively with brokers and clients. A solid grasp of underwriting principles, legislation, and market dynamics is essential, along with the capability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy under pressure. Dip CII certification or a commitment to obtaining it is desirable, as is prior experience mentoring underwriters or working in customer-facing roles.
